36th Grand Forks International Baseball

The 36th Grand Fork International

Calling all baseball fans! Starting from humble roots as a local baseball tournament, the Grand Forks International Baseball Tournament (GFI) has grown into the richest tournament in North America. Teams from far and wide travel to Grand Forks each year to compete at James Donaldson Park for up to $54,000 in prize money.

In 1984 the tournament increased the number of competing teams to 12, and by 1987, the true “international” flavor was added when the tournament welcomed Japan for the first time, and Taiwan in 1988.

Displaying exceptional talent on the ball field, at least 36 former players from the GFI have made it to the major leagues, making this tourney an exciting sporting event for the entire family. Once again, the Tournament Committee has worked hard in preparation for the 2018 GFI, making the 37th, a tournament to remember.

During the tournament, the volunteers at the Hard Ball Café will serve up the standard baseball fare of hot dogs and hamburgers and much more. You can still see the game as you wait your turn as it’s located right behind the catcher!

For adults, the Blue Monster is where the beer gardens are located. You must be of legal age to enter this part of the park. No matter if you sit in the covered grand stands overlooking the diamond, or you choose the Blue Monster, you’re sure to make memories to last a lifetime.

This year’s tournament runs from Tuesday, June 26th to Sunday July 1st, 2017. Come to Grand Forks and we’ll see you at the games!
